Purchase and licensing
Verkilo is a one-time purchase — no subscription, ever. You own the app and your work outright. For the current price, see the pricing page on the main site.
Buying#
- Click Buy Now in the trial banner inside Verkilo, or open the pricing page on the main site.
- Complete the checkout. Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, our Merchant of Record.
- Your license key arrives by email. It looks like
XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX.
Activating your license#
- In Verkilo, choose Help → Activate License… — on macOS it’s in the Verkilo menu instead. You can also click Enter License in the trial banner.
- Paste your key into the License key field.
- Click Activate.
Activation happens once. After that the app is licensed permanently and offline — it never needs to check in again, and Verkilo keeps working with no internet connection at all.
If your trial has already run out, Verkilo opens this dialog on launch and stays there until a valid key is entered. Nothing is deleted in the meantime; your projects are on your disk and open normally the moment you activate.
Checking your license#
Choose Help → About Verkilo (or Verkilo → About Verkilo on macOS) to see your license status, the key on file, and who it was activated to and when.
The household license#
One purchase covers a household: install Verkilo on all your own desktop machines — Mac, Windows, and Linux — from the same license. There’s no per-device fee.
To set up another machine:
- Install Verkilo on it.
- Choose Help → Activate License….
- Paste the same key.
No account needed to write#
Your license unlocks the app, but writing itself needs no cloud account and no internet connection. Your manuscripts never leave your computer unless you choose to export or back them up.
