Series Bible overview
The Series Bible is Verkilo’s answer to the hardest part of writing a series: keeping every character, place, and detail consistent across thousands of pages and several books.
What it tracks#
The Series Bible collects the recurring elements of your story world:
- Characters — who they are and every scene they appear in.
- Locations — the places your scenes happen in.
- Keywords and tags — the objects, themes, and threads you want to follow.
- Point of view — whose eyes each scene is told through.
Where to find it#
Each part of the Bible has its own view, and its own shortcut:
| View | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Characters | ⌘4 / Ctrl+4 |
| Locations | ⌘5 / Ctrl+5 |
| Keywords | ⌘6 / Ctrl+6 |
They’re all listed under the Go menu too. Point of view isn’t a view of its own — it’s a property of each scene, set in the details panel.
How it fills itself in#
You don’t maintain the Series Bible separately from your manuscript. As you tag a section with a character or location, Verkilo records that connection — so the Bible is always a byproduct of writing, not extra bookkeeping.
Why it matters for a series#
When book three needs to know a minor character’s eye color from book one, the answer is one click away. The Series Bible is what makes Verkilo a tool built for series authors.
